Levin performing Arts Society hoisting We Will Rock You the Musical (27th of November till 13th of December 2026) has been a unique and challenging Rig design, using existing fixtures of their own (22x BeamZ Bac334 LED’s 12x Chauvet Slimpar pro Q’s, a handful of halogen 300w mini-fresnel and 7x BeamZ LCB140 LED sticks. then adding our rig consisting of 12x Chauvet Intimidator 140SR hybrids, 8x Chauvet SlimPar Pro Q’s & 8x LCB144 MKII as well as trussing and hoist etc with 2x BeamZ F1600 hazers.
The House Rigging wasn’t adequate for More equipment as most of it was Close to max Capacity we’ve had to add additional structure into the RSJs to fly our truss runs. the RSJs were a 4m span apart so each side we’ve added 2× 5m Steal 48mm scaffold pipe clamped to the RSJs to hold them in place, which then allowed us to fly our truss between 2x “house” LX.
we’ve designed two identical truss runs which are LX4 & LX6. 4m in length of Tri Truss (APX down) 2x Vertical LCB144, 2x Horizontal LCB144s, 4× 140sr hybrids & 4x slimpars. this unique design gives a much more “Rock ‘n’ Roll” feel to the stage given its a Queen based songs & shows it definitely fits in. It's a very eye candy setup bring colour and movement to the audience, a much more embracing feel to the whole show.
we also have 2x Chauvet Intimidator 140SR Hybrids at the front of Stage Left & Right to add a bit more of that rock stage feel, while only 4 fixtures it ties the whole stage together.
in total were using 4x Universes running of our ChamSys MQ50 console via ArtNet to our bistro rack with a Genetix GN10 node 4x Chauvet Data stream 4 (one per universe). The MQ50 is a new piece of kit for us after purchasing it from MDR Sound & Lighting a few months back. it’s been the best console so far and have loved programming it wth ease.
LOAD IN - load in was in total 8 hours from a few trips from home base to LPAS to from; cases upon cases in to rigging scaff pipe to make more rigging points. rigging steel strops, 4m 500kg rated hoists then trussing, hanging fixtures. each truss has 2 universes. uni2 for slimpars & 140Sr hybrids and UNI3 for the LCB144 led strips. each LX had 2x data cables, 1x Wieland 10 pole multicore for power distribution all made into neat looms easy to be flown up and to make a super fast load out when its time to “STRIKE”
We had the plot and addressing for fixtures made 2 weeks in advance in our Previs studio (which made this process extremely efficient leading to a fast load in. with the benefit of having many years experience in the theatre. using original plot for House fixtures excluding a few minor changes.
